The IIB-CONICET-UNMdP has its headquarters on the national University of Mar del Plata main campus, in Mar del Plata, Argentina. An important part of the institute is intended for common working spaces that allow an efficient use of the available technological resources to carry out research in molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology and cell biology. With 2 floors plus one annex, it hosts 12 laboratories, microscopy room, cell culture rooms, a radioisotopes room, a HPLC room, one cold room and 2 controlled-temperature chambers, darkroom, drugstore, an electronics and maintenance workshop and 3 chambers for growing plants, 2 in the main building and 1 in the annex.

Common facilities also include offices for researchers and technical personnel, a seminar room a wash room and sterilization room and administrative office among others.
